I wish to speed up transfer of large video files from my Omen desktop (with 500GB SSD) to external NVME drives. Can this model accommodate PCI Express cards offering faster USB ports (e.g. Gen 3.2)?
The PC has two USB C ports but they max out at about 300MB/s.// Will the video data transfer work faster after fitting a larger SSD drive for the main operating system and file storage? I have 32GB of RAM installed.

Hi @jack0745
Welcome to the HP Forum.
Your PC's MB should have an open PCIe X16 slot having 8 lanes to the chipset.
You may be able to successfully add a PCIe to USB 3.2, Gen. 2, adapter in this PCIe X16 slot. Check Amazon or other online retailors for purchase options.
Some PCIe/USB 3.2 adapters may provide up to a maximum of 20 Gbps (this is Gigabits, not Gigabytes) data transfer rates. Your data transfer speed may vary depending on the size/characteristics of the data files.
There is no guarantee you will experience a perceptible improvement moving or copying specific types of files at 20 Gbps if the PCIe to USB adapter works.
The data transfer rate from the operating system drive to the external USB drive is determined by the available USB bandwidth (bottleneck). Upgrading the OS drive is not a solution.
You might have to look at Thunderbolt options or a USB 4.0 adapter to possibly get 40 Gbps.
I am fuzzy on the newer options (backward compatibility). So I can't provide additional thoughts.
