Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Here is some information from Microsoft about your proposed upgrade:  https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/commercialize/service/mobile/upgrade-windows-embed...

You would need to contact HP Customer Support to find out if you have, or can obtain, the needed Win10 Embedded licenses -- we have no way of answering that for you, here.

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836

Good Luck

Microsoft will support Windows 7 through January 2020.

You can continue the existing systems until then.

Maybe, Microsoft will support "embedded" systems beyond that date -- their "big" business-partners may "twist-their-arm" to extend the support.

So, I'm curious -- what is your reason for wanting to upgrade?

The main reason for upgrading the system is the better Remote-FX on win 10

I just spoke to a support person at HP and he said that technically I can reimage the t520 with the WIN10 IoT from the HP drivers site. However such an upgrade is not supported by HP .

The goo dnews is that there is a way back to reimage the Win 7E on the thin client again from the HP site

You can purchase a field upgrade kit from CDW

HP OS FIELD UPG WIN10 IOT T520 E-LTU
Mfg. Part: 1MX79AAE | CDW Part: 4738284

You will have to upgrade memory from 16GB  to 32GB.  The new image is about 20Gb.  You will probably need an enterprise licensing agreement with Microsoft.

Memory HP SATA III 6G/s M2. SSD.  We tested Transcend  MTS400  64GB  M.2 SSD.   This works.
