For 0844C, is there a secret bios update of sorts? since the current updated bios makes my SSD act up, and the old one didn't, I tried to downgrade bios but "apparently" im missing the .sig for it when i clearly have it

Hi @WinterForestDwe,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble with your HP Pavilion Gaming laptop's BIOS update, especially with SSD issues after the latest update. Regarding BIOS updates and downgrades, here's what you can try.
Official BIOS Updates: HP's official site is the safest place to get the latest BIOS updates. If there's an official update or older version available, you can download it from the HP support page. Ensure that you're entering your specific laptop model (like "Pavilion Gaming 15") to find the right version.
BIOS Downgrade (.sig issue): The .sig file issue occurs because HP uses signature files for BIOS updates to ensure the integrity and authenticity of the update. When you attempt to downgrade, the system may block it to prevent potential security risks.
Possible Fixes:
- Check for the correct file: Double-check if the BIOS update package you have includes both the BIOS file and the signature file (.sig). Sometimes BIOS installers include both, but downgrades require an exact match.
- Use HP BIOS Recovery: Some HP laptops have a BIOS recovery feature that can help revert to an older BIOS version. To access it:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press the power button and immediately press Esc repeatedly.
- Select BIOS Setup (F10) or BIOS Management (F2) from the menu.
- Choose the option to restore an older BIOS (if available).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
