570-P054NA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Model Number: 570-P054NA Product No. Z7D30EA#ABU Can anyone help me please. I bought this Desktop PC 18 months ago from John Lewis. I installed - Samsung (MZ-V6E250BW) 250GB EVO PCI Express 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive and mirrored the complete HDD to the SSD. I made the original HDD a slave drive to store all my documents, pictures, videos. After this I made a HP Recovery DVD (3 discs) and kept them in safe place. Now with the windows 1803 update after twenty automatic attempts something went wrong and PC stopped booting up just kept getting 2 long beeps and 2 short beeps. So I decided to reset the computer back to it original factory setting with my HP recovery DVD. It takes about 2 hours to do this but towards the end I get error screen “restoration incomplete” Command prompt window states “the system cannot find the drive specified”. I am now lost how to solve this issue, can anyone help.

Hi:

Most likely the recovery disks/factory reset isn't working because you added the SSD and the recovery image was made to work with the original configuration which was a single 2 TB HDD.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to clean install W10 by using the media creation tool at the link below to create installation media.  You will need either an 8 GB USB flash drive or you can download the ISO file which you can burn to a DVD.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

The tool will automatically make the USB installation media for you, but if you prefer the DVD, download the ISO file and you can use the utility I zipped up and attached below to transfer the ISO file to a DVD. so that it is bootable.

Also, in order to boot from a DVD, you need to enable legacy mode and disable secure boot in the BIOS.

See this link for the settings to change.

After W10 installs, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

Hello Paul,

Thank you very much for your helpful reply. All clear and i can try this.

But how do i get the Windows 10 - Original Installation Product key (licence code).  Will I need to buy a new  windows 10 product key doing it this way @ cost of  £119.99

Like the old day there is no Microsoft label on the box with the Product key code.

Regards

You're very welcome, Musthafa.

Starting with W8, Microsoft requires all PC manufacturers to install the product key in the PC's BIOS.

No more product key labels like there use to be on W7 and older versions of Windows.

This prevents the illegal transfer of an OEM product key from one PC to be used to activate another PC.

What this means is that as long as you select the right version of W10 to install, it won't even ask for a product key, as it will detect it in the BIOS, install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Anytime, Musthafa

Glad to have been of assistance.

Once you get everything set up the way you want, I recommend you use this free disk imaging utility to periodically create system images.

https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

You save the image onto a portable hard drive, and the program will give you a prompt to create bootable rescue media which you use to access the image stored on your portable hard drive.
