HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Base Model Ultra-slim PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi community!

I'd like to know if it's possible to remotly turn on HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Base Model Ultra-slim PC.

Usually there is an option in BIOS to power-on the computer by keyboard or mouse.

I can't find it in this case.

I use a wireless USB keyboard (Logitech diNovo Edge).

Is there another way to remotly turn on my computer?

-> Like a special USB device or a special remote...

Many thanks for your help!

Hope there is a way.

How remote?  Across the room?  Over the Internet?

How did the computer get powered-off, and thus needing to be powered-on ?

Instead, can you configure the "power" settings within Windows to "hibernate" or "sleep", and never to "power-off" ?

Also, within Device Manager, select the keyboard, and check its "Power Management" tab,

and enable the "allow this device to wake the computer" option.

Repeat for the mouse.

Hi mdklassen,

Thanks for first ideas.

Yes I'd like to turn on the computer from my wireless usb keyboard across the room. Not form different location over the internet.

I power off the computer each time I stop using it from windows start menu. To save power and processor run time...I hope to believe I'm achieving something...

Power settings are set to put the computer into hibernation mode after 2 hours. However even from hybernation or sleep I can't bring my computer on.

I enabled the "allow this device to wake the computer" option for all HIDs (for Logitech keyboard and mouse this was already on).

I tryed to bring the computer back from sleep with my keyboard / mouse... no luck.

I also installed Logitech app for PC and tryed again... no difference.

As said, with my previous computer with a Gigabyte GA-DS3... motherboard there was an option in bios "turn computer on by keyboard - enable / disable" and the same for mouse. There was also an option to turn the computer on by series of key strokes (password).

It seems like USB connectors have no power while in sleep, hibernate or off state.

Thanks!

You may just have answered your own question.

Device Manager snapshotDevice Manager snapshot

Notice the check-mark before "Allow the computer to turn off this device (Generic USB Hub) to save power".

Remove the check-mark.

Hi mdklassen,

this was quite obvious. Sorry I didn't mention it.

I removed all check-marks even before I wrote to the community.

I even turned off "selective mode" for USB devices in power settings.

Although the "allow this device to wake the computer" is greyed out for USB Hubs.

For HIDs it is vice versa - "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is greyed out and unchecked and "allow this device to wake the computer" is checked.

I'm using Win10 which is new for me, so there might be some hidden settings.

Regards!
