Lap top won't start

My Spectre Laptop ( bought in 2015) has a dark screen and will not start properly. Is it dead?

The question is "permanently-dead" or just "resting" (link to the Monty Python Norwegian Blue Parrot that the pet-shop owner claims that is just resting).

Is the "brick" part of the power-supply, cold, or at room temperature, or warm/hot ?

Is there a lamp on the computer that lights up when the power-supply is attached to the computer and to an active electrical wall-outlet?

If you take the computer into a darkened, quiet room, and try to power-on the computer, do you hear any noise at all (spinning fan? CD-drive spinning? clicks?)  Do you see any very-faint image of a normal Windows start-up on your screen?

Disconnect the power-supply, and remove the battery. Then, press and hold-down the power button, for a few seconds. Release the button. Reconnect the power-supply and the battery, and tap the power button, to see if it now starts.

Find a computer technician, or technophile, who can physically remove the disk-drive, and temporarily attach it to their computer. Can the files on the disk-drive be accessed while it is attached?
