When i try to open the recovery options listed above, it won't boot into them, Instead, it will say "Please wait while we install a system update" and completely bypass the recovery managers. It doesn't install any update, it just will dissapear and boot normally. This is a problem because I'm trying to factory reset my laptop.

Hi @sWVP
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation—your HP laptop bypasses both HP Recovery Manager and Windows Recovery Environment whenever you attempt to access recovery options, instead showing a misleading message about a system update before booting normally. Since you need to perform a factory reset, this unexpected behavior makes the process unnecessarily difficult.
I'm sorry you're encountering this issue, and I understand how inconvenient it must be, especially when recovery options should work as expected. Let's go over some steps to troubleshoot this and regain access to recovery tools.
1. Check BIOS Settings
Recovery settings can sometimes be affected by BIOS configurations. To check:
- Restart the laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
- Look for Secure Boot and disable it.
- If Legacy Boot is available, enable it.
- Save changes and restart.
2. Use Windows Installation Media
A bootable Windows USB can be an alternative when recovery options fail.
- On another computer, download the Microsoft Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB.
- Insert the USB into the affected laptop and restart.
- Press F9 to open the Boot Menu and select the USB.
- Choose Reset this PC or reinstall Windows.
3. Try Advanced Startup Options
To force recovery tools:
- Hold Shift while clicking “Restart” in Windows.
- This should open Advanced Startup options.
- Select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC or access recovery tools.
4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
If recovery options won’t load, the issue may be hardware-related.
- Power off the laptop.
- Turn it back on while pressing F2 repeatedly.
- Choose System Tests to check for hardware issues.
5. Manually Delete the Recovery Partition (Last Resort)
If recovery partitions are corrupted or non-functional:
- Open Disk Management (Win + X > Disk Management).
- Locate the Recovery Partition, usually labeled OEM Partition.
- Right-click and select Delete Volume.
- After deletion, reinstall Windows using a bootable USB.
