@Shivanspandey12,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Thank you for your post. What you describe is usually related to wake settings rather than a hardware fault. A few things you can try:

  1. Check touchpad wake setting

    • Press Win + X → Device Manager.

    • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.

    • Right-click your touchpad Properties → Power Management.

    • If available, check "Allow this device to wake the computer."

  2. Keyboard/Power button test

    • See if the laptop wakes reliably with the keyboard or power button. If those work fine, then it's just the touchpad not consistently signaling wake.

  3. Windows power settings

    • Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what closing the lid does.

    • Make sure Sleep is properly assigned and Fast Startup is turned off (sometimes it interferes with wake).

  4. BIOS/driver update

    • You mentioned Windows is up to date. Please also check HP Support Assistant or the HP Drivers page for your model to see if there's a BIOS update -sometimes these improve wake/sleep reliability.

Since your laptop is only 5 days old, if the issue persists even after updates and settings adjustments, I recommend contacting HP Support India directly. They can check if it's a known firmware issue or arrange service/replacement under warranty.

Sir I have checked my laptop don't have power management and I have turned off the fast startup but I don't know why this problem occurs and I have even search for it but it is showing that hp laptop main key to wake the laptop is the power key and keyboard the mouse do sometimes and I have updated the bios also from hp support assistance

@Shivanspandey12,

Thank you for checking and for the update. You're correct -on many HP laptops, the power button and keyboard are the main wake devices, and the touchpad or external mouse may only work sometimes (or not at all). This is by design in some models, not necessarily a fault.

If the laptop wakes reliably with the power button or a key press, then the system is working normally. Unfortunately, there isn't always an option in BIOS or Windows to make the touchpad a consistent wake source.

Since your laptop is brand new, I'd suggest:

  • Keep using the power button or keyboard as the reliable way to wake.

  • If you'd prefer touchpad wake to always work, you can share feedback through HP Support Assistant → Feedback, or check with HP Support India to confirm if a future BIOS update might address it.

Bottom line is this: what you're seeing isn't harmful, and your laptop is not defective -it's just how the wake function is implemented on this model.

Yah you are right because sometimes it open in single click even if it is in deep Sleep I think that sometimes it i not sending signal to wake up that's why I need  2 to 3 time touching

@Shivanspandey12,

Precisely -that's consistent with how this model handles sleep. Sometimes the touchpad doesn't send a wake signal on the first tap, so it takes a second or third click. As long as the laptop wakes reliably with the power button or keyboard, your system is working as intended.

You can keep an eye on HP driver and BIOS updates, as future updates may improve touchpad wake reliability.

@Shivanspandey12,

You're on the right track using HP Support Assistant -that is the easiest way to get updates. Here's how it works step by step:

  1. HP Support Assistant (HPSA)

    • Open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu.

    • Click My devices → Updates.

    • It will automatically check for all available driver, firmware, and BIOS updates for your laptop.

    • You can choose Install all or select specific updates.

  2. HP Website (manual update)

    • Go to: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

    • Enter your product name (e.g., HP 15s-fc0389AU) and search.

    • You'll see all drivers available: BIOS, chipset, graphics, touchpad, audio, network, etc.

    • You can download only the driver you want (e.g., touchpad) or install multiple updates.

Tip: It is usually best to keep all drivers updated, not just the touchpad, because some system updates fix interactions between devices, sleep/wake, and Windows.

Since you've already updated the BIOS, the next most relevant update for your issue is likely the touchpad driver (sometimes called "Synaptics" or "ELAN" depending on your model). Updating the full set of recommended drivers ensures everything works smoothly.
