Hi @Ranjit777,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Laptop 14s is experiencing a "phantom input" issue, where certain applications or settings open automatically without you pressing any keys. This could be caused by a number of things such as software issues, keyboard malfunction, or system settings.
Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem on your Windows 11 laptop.
Check for Stuck Keys or Keyboard Issues
- Inspect the Keyboard: Ensure that none of the keys are physically stuck or malfunctioning, especially the Windows key, which could trigger shortcuts like opening the Help, Settings, etc.
- External Keyboard: If you have an external keyboard, try connecting it to your laptop to see if the issue persists. If the problem stops with the external keyboard, then your built-in keyboard may need to be serviced.
Disable Sticky Keys & Filter Keys
- Turn Off Sticky Keys: Sometimes Sticky Keys can cause unexpected behavior with key presses.
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to Accessibility > Keyboard.
- Toggle off the options for Sticky Keys and Filter Keys.
Scan for Malware or Viruses
- Phantom inputs can also be caused by malware. Use Windows Security to run a full virus scan.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & Threat Protection.
- Click Quick Scan or Full Scan to check for any threats.
Check for Updates
- Keeping Windows and drivers up to date may resolve any bugs or compatibility issues causing this problem.
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates.
- Install any available updates.
Run the Hardware Troubleshooter
- Use the built-in Windows troubleshooter to check for hardware-related issues.
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot.
- Select Other troubleshooters.
- Run the Keyboard troubleshooter.
Test in Safe Mode
- Restart your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If the issue does not happen in Safe Mode, it could be caused by a software conflict.
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- In the Boot tab, select Safe Boot and click OK.
- Restart your laptop to boot into Safe Mode.

Reset Keyboard Settings
- If you have custom keyboard shortcuts or software installed, resetting these settings might help.
- Open Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region.
- Select English (United States) (or your preferred language) and ensure that the keyboard layout matches.
Clean Boot
- A Clean Boot can help identify whether a background service or application is causing the problem.
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Under the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services and click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab, open Task Manager, and disable all startup items.
- Restart your laptop and see if the problem persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
