I was given a computer to fix of a dead nephews property. I have no idea what the password is and the Father Bob wants to use this rather than throw it away. I can not get away from the son's log on coming up. Is there a secret way to change this or to get into the computer to add a user and delete the old one?

Hi:
You can use the cloud recovery tool.
The HP cloud recovery tool will create a bootable recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility...You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support
You can download the cloud recovery tool from the Microsoft Store:
HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Microsoft Store Apps
Since you will have to use the recovery tool on another PC, you will need to enter your PC's full product number in the tool's search window, which is 6YQ60AA#ABA
All data currently installed on the hard drive will be lost if you use this method to factory reset the PC.

Unfortunately, we can't help you with that because the forum rules of participation do not permit us with assisting with trying to bypass or circumvent BIOS or user passwords.
Please see the forum rules of participation, rule 4.d.
