Is the only BIOS related file I could find for my machine (P6540F)..
When you run it.. it DOES NOT give you the option to make a bootable flash drive, like many of the tutorials? (why not?)
I need to find the BIOS bin file for my machine.
HP Pavilion p6540f Desktop PC
I believe it is this motherboard/model:
H-RS880-uATX (Aloe)
chip set: (I believe)
AMD 785G
Can anyone help me? or pint to me where the file is located?
I am trying to add it to the 3-in-1 USB Diag Tool here:
Or as a last hope.. perhaps anyone can help me source a replacement motherboard:
H-RS880-uATX (Aloe)
Thanks

There is a BIOS update for your model:
Title: H-RS880-uATX Motherboard BIOS Update
Version: 6.09
Description: H-RS880-uATX Motherboard BIOS update resolves an issue with resuming from sleep mode on systems configured with 4GB or more of memory.
Category: BIOS
Enhancement/Fixes:
- Resolves an issue with resuming from sleep mode on systems configured with 4GB or more of memory.
- Switches certain BIOS settings from "Enabled" to "Disabled" to protect against undesired changes.
- Installs HP Vision Diagnostic tool, accessible by pressing F9 during the BIOS startup screen.
Are you experiencing the issues that HP describes, above?
> When you run it.. it DOES NOT give you the option to make a bootable flash drive, like many of the tutorials? (why not?)
Correct. The "why not" part is outside of the scope of this "user-to-user" forum.

Search on AMAZON or eBay ???

SearcingAMAZON or EBAY doesnt help a newbie when they arent sure of all the variances in the motherboard options on ebay... (hence the question for help) but I see only bits and pieces were chosen to address (like not the scopr of this forum.... but not helping one FIND the actual BIOS file)

For anyone else looking for some help and/or answers.. (especially people new to this area of computer fixing)..
If you download the BIOS update .exe file from HP.. AND IT DOES NOT OFFER YOU THE OPTION TO MAKE A BOOTABLE USB...
you can stiull get the BIOS file.
You can take the xxxx.exe file from HP.. and extract it using WinZip or 7Zip..etc..etc
So for myself..
my BIOS update .exe is called: sp49851.exe
I ectracted to a folder..
Inside you get several new files.. some new .exe files..
but the focus and request is for this file:
alo6.09
this is my actual BIN FILE... (its 1024kb [1MB] as well)..
From here... you have several options depending on your current situation and OS..etc..
From reading you SHOULD be able to do some sort of key pressed with the (above) renamed file on a USB stick.. (nothing else)..
Now, if thats supposed to be Win + B or Win + V or F2 or F10 every 1 second, or Alt + F2.. or F9... or ESC.... (I have read them all).. I cant say.. but at least you now have a LEGIT and CORRECT BIOS files.
I will be giving things another 'go' tonight.
Previously.. if I had any USB inserted (HP 3-in-1, HP Visual Diags, FreeDOS bootable USB..etc) it would always give me the 3 beep (POST) error code..
Hopefully having ther correct file now will help.
* It looks like the main .exe also has AFUWIN.exe packaged inside.... Is this a WINDOWS only runfile then? (not to be run in DOS or CLI?).
I have also read about AWDFlash.exe tool as well... Is this one perferred?
At least one positive things has been completed.
Getting a hold of the legit, alo6.09 BIOS file...
Now to figure out how to get it to boot to.... ANYTHING! LOL
