HP Pavalion 550-248ng x64 base
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased my HP desktop while in Germany (HP 550-248ng). I would like to know where I can find the product key for my Windows 10 Home that came with the PC. I have looked all over the PC the box it came in and tried looking in System info in the Control Panel. Any suggestions.

Hi:

On all PC's that come with W8 or newer from a manufacturer like HP, Dell, etc, the product keys are all encrypted in the BIOS.

That is to prevent the unauthorized use of OEM product keys on the sticker on another PC.

There is no need to know the product key because the only way you can reinstall W10 is with the recovery disks that work with the product key in the BIOS.

However, if you still want to know what the key is, you will need to find a 3rd party program that can read the key in the BIOS for you, such as this one...
