HP Pavilion 590-p0054
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer cannot update and is barely able to function due to low storage space. I have removed just about every extra item on the computer and can't seems to remove anything else, but there is still not enough storage. We have only had the computer a couple of years. I am about to do a system reset, but I would rather not if I don't have to. How do I fix this?

@Jmcintyre12

The specs of your machine is

         https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-595-p0000i/37730890/model/24153297/docum...

It has 2 physical drives for storage:

  • 128 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 Solid State (tiny),
  • 1 TB SATA 7200RPM HDD (plenty).

I believe you put everything on the tiny 128GB SSD therefore you run out of space. Please do not keep users data/files such as videos, documents, audio ..... on C: and move existing USERS files out of C:

1. Assign default files on other drive (not C:),

          https://www.howtogeek.com/698873/how-to-change-microsoft-offices-default-save-location-on-windows-10...

2. Move out existing users files from C: to other drive ,

From now on, you should have more space on C:

Regards.

Thank you @banhien.

What is the best way to move these files and how do I determine which files need to be moved?
