Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had two new PCs in the last two weeks.  The problem is that after shutting down for the day, when powering up the next morning both Microsoft Edge and Mail disappear.  Both were working properly at the time of the previous shutdown.  The tech at Staples, where I bought the computer, is telling me it is a setup problem.  I had the same issues with both PCs.  I follwed all setup instructions and used Microsoft on-line support when I had questions.  Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what is causing it?  Thanks.

@JohnnyP2

Thank you for the update,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I'm glad you found the solution you were looking for.

Although the PowerShell step I had recommended as the first step was supposed to do the same as removing a program from the registry, that said, it's a valid explanation.

I personally suggest using programs like Ccleaner (Free version) to get rid of any registry errors on your own in the future to prevent such issues (This isn't recommended by HP and as I mentioned is my personal opinion as I use it on my computer, I hope that helps).

Thanks for taking the time to let the community know about the solution

You've been great to work with and it has been a genuine pleasure interacting with you.

I hope both you and your product works great and remain healthy for a long time 😉

@JohnnyP2

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand Microsoft Edge and Mail Disappear after the PC is shutdown,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help you, although, to provide an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern:

Did the issue occur after the windows 10-anniversary update?

You've mentioned that you've followed certain instructions to fix it temporarily, perhaps you could give us a few details? so that we don't repeat the steps.

Did you attempt to use the PowerShell to fix the issue? if you haven't, here are a few steps you could attempt while you reply to my queries:

Windows PowerShell is Windows’ very own task automation and configuration framework that works with a command line interface. You can use it to fix the issue and have Microsoft Edge back. Follow the steps below.

  • Open Start Menu and type PowerShell.
  • You will notice that two results will pop up. Choose the one that just reads Windows PowerShell.
  • Now enter the command given below.

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

  • You might see some error but no not worry about it.
  • After the command is executed, restart your PC to fix the issue.

Keep me posted,

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Hello Riddle_Decipher,

I got my PC back from Staples yesterday.  Everything seems to be working OK.  The tech told me that registry errors were the cause of the problem.  Does that sound like a reasonable explanation to you?

Thank you for your time.  How do I close out the post?
