HP 2311x 23-inch Diagonal LED Monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP monitor has started doing something a little odd.

I have the monitor and PC connected to a switch so that when I turn the switch on it will power up the monitor and PC and when I turn the switch off, both the PC and monitor lose power and turn off.

It has worked flawlessly for quite some time, but now as the monitor powers up, it will briefly show the bootup process and then go blank (black screen), over and over…until the PC is booted up and running. Then the monitor settles down and works well the rest of the day.

I tried changing the cable with no difference, changed the port on my graphics card with no difference, updated the HP monitor driver with no difference.

I tried a different monitor and it worked well so I know it isn’t the graphics card.

As a test, I took the monitor off the switch and plugged it into a non-switchable socket so that the monitor remains on even when the PC is powered off.

When I power on the PC, the monitor springs to life and doesn’t flash on and off as the PC boots up.

Is this monitor dying or is there an easy fix?
