Hi

Open Cortana in the taskbar. Speak or type "Winver". Click or speak Winver "run command".

What  Windows 10 build do you have?

Windows 10 running super slow is a different can of worms. You may have updated to the latest version of Windows 10. This version may not be playing nice with the hardware on your PC. Driver problems.

You would have to change screensaver settings or sleep settings to change the five minute timeout.

Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Power Options -> Edit Plan Settings

-----------> Turn off the display:  [10 minutes]

Please search on this forum for "black screen" -- HP computers that have run Windows Update on/after September 12, 2017 often have this exact "black screen" option.  There are many postings on this forum about this symptom.

Hi

Lost my train of thought in reference to this thread. Hey, it happens.

Waisting time here is unproductive.

Hope the user is able to solve the problem.

It is disappointing forum members can't work together to help folks solve problems.

When you obsessively need to get the solution or a kudos you do what is necessary to get to your objective.

Arrogance is bliss.

Regards

How?  Was waiting 20 minutes the correct action?

Did you update via HP Support Assistant?

> but now running super slow

Measure, measure, measure.

Use CTRL-ALT-DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager.

Tell us what percentage of CPU and RAM are being used, and how much network traffic you see.

What about the SHIFT key on the keyboard?

> On a side note, ever since Ive had it if you leave it alone for 5 minutes you have to put in password to get on it again.

> Is there a way to override that?

It's in the "screen-saver" settings, whether or not to require a password after 'NN' minutes, where 'NN' defaults to '5'.
