I have had this machine for a month now and during some partricularly long tasks with my old computer I used to turn the monitor off until the task was completed. With this machine I cannot find a way of turning the monitor off while leaving the pc on and working. If I put a screensaver on the background task seems to stop working.

Simple task, and glad you asked. In figure 3 take note of the "time intervals".
I set mine to Turn off display "30 minutes".
I set Put the computer to sleep as "Never".
PS<> you must be old school. Screen savers were meant to prevent phosphor burn-in on CRT and plasma computer monitors. That situation is 1980's thinking.

Thanks for that, and yes, you're right! I'm very old school, 14" crt's being the standard and that is probably why I don't like leaving monitors on for long periods doing nothing.
In fact the reason I posted the question was only that I don't like having a bright monitor on for 20 minutes while the computer is grinding away and I prefer it being off but if it's not an option and it doesn't matter.
Thanks very much for the reply!
