HP All-in-One PC 24-df1000i (1W762AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I apologize if this has already been answered in the community, I am new to using these boards and a bit overwhelmed. My problem is that my All-in-One desktop PC will not connect to 5G. I have tried following some of the suggested steps (re-setting the adapter, re-setting the modem, et cetera) but I am not very tech-savvy and I could do with some help.

Hi @Sophie_Lewis1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you’re using the HP All-in-One PC 24-df1000i (1W762AV) running Windows 11, and you're having trouble connecting to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network. Let’s walk through this. We’re here to help you step-by-step, no technical expertise required. 😊

Step 1: Check Network Capabilities

Let’s see if your Wi-Fi card supports 5GHz:

  1. Press Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run box.
  2. Type: cmd and press Enter.
  3. In the Command Prompt window, type the following: netsh wlan show drivers
  4. Look for the line that says:
    Radio types supported

Step 2: Ensure the Router is Broadcasting 5GHz

If your PC supports 5GHz:

  1. Log in to your router settings (check the sticker on the back of your router or contact your internet provider).
  2. Ensure 5GHz Wi-Fi is enabled and broadcasting with a separate SSID (name), like Home_WiFi_5G

Step 3: Refresh Network Adapter Settings

  1. Press Windows + X and choose Device Manager.
  2. Expand Network Adapters.
  3. Right-click on your wireless adapter (e.g., Realtek, Intel, or Mediatek) and choose Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your PC — Windows will reinstall the correct driver automatically.

Still not seeing your 5GHz Wi-Fi?

Step 4: Update the Wireless Driver

  1. Go to: 👉 HP All-in-One 24-df1227in Bundle PC (7Z3Q2PA) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
  2. Download the latest Wireless LAN driver listed for your operating system (Windows 11).
  3. Install it, restart the PC, and then try connecting again.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
