Hi @Mounika_Nelluri, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It looks like your HP laptop’s camera is not working and is only showing a black screen with the message "Front-facing camera." Since you've already tried updating the drivers, let's go through some additional troubleshooting steps:
Check Privacy Settings
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to Privacy & security > Camera.
- Make sure Camera access is turned On.
- Scroll down and ensure that Allow apps to access your camera is enabled.
- If you're using a specific app, make sure it is listed under Let desktop apps access your camera.
Check Device Manager
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- Right-click on your camera and select Disable device. Wait a few seconds, then right-click again and select Enable device.
- If the camera is still black, right-click and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your PC, and Windows should automatically reinstall the camera driver.
Check if Another App is Using the Camera
- Close all apps that may be using the camera (Zoom, Teams, Skype, etc.).
- Open the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and end any processes related to the camera.
- Try opening the Camera app again.
Try Using Another App
- Open Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Skype and check if the camera works.
- If the camera works in another app, reset the Camera app:
- Win + I > Apps > Installed apps > Search for Camera.
- Click Advanced options > Reset.
Check for Windows Updates
- Press Win + I and go to Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.
- Restart your PC after updating.
Try an External Camera
If nothing works, try connecting an external USB webcam to check if it's a hardware issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
