I think there was a recent update on windows on my desk top which I accepted and allowed it to do its thing while I left to do some chores.
when I cam back it had the blue screen with Qr code saying my device ran into a problem.
the stop code allocated is ACPI BIOS ERROR
Whenever I switch off and restart it goes through the loop of attempting repairs but always ending up at the blue screen.
it must have something to do with the recent windows update.
I cannot access the computer as I can’t get past this blue screen.
can anyone help please?

Hi @Ango2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the ACPI BIOS error on the HP Pavilion All-in-One!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Shut down your computer completely and disconnect all peripheral devices.
- Disconnect the power cable and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power cable and try to start the computer again.
Access the BIOS Setup:
- Restart your computer and repeatedly press the "Esc" or "F10" key (depending on your model) to enter the BIOS setup.
- Once in the BIOS, revert any recent changes or restore default settings (usually there is an option like "Load Setup Defaults").
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your computer and immediately start pressing "F8" until the boot menu appears.
- Select "Safe Mode with Networking" from the boot menu. This mode loads only the essential drivers, which may help bypass the problematic update.
- Once booted into Safe Mode, you can uninstall recent updates that might have caused the error. Go to Settings > Update & Security > View update history and uninstall the most recent update.
Run System Restore:
- If Safe Mode is accessible, use System Restore to revert your computer to a previous state before the update occurred.
- Search for "Create a Restore Point" in the Windows Search, click on "System Restore," and follow the prompts to choose a restore point.
Update BIOS:
- Check if you can access BIOS updates through HP Support. Make sure any BIOS updates are official and match your HP Pavilion model specifications.
Repair Windows Installation:
- You might need to boot from a Windows installation media (USB or DVD). Use this to access repair options.
- Choose "Repair your computer" from the Windows setup screen and attempt an automatic repair.
- Resetting Windows without affecting personal files can also be an option through the recovery environment if safe mode and system restore do not work.
I hope this helps.
