Dear Paul & Community Members,

The IT guys returned the Prodesk 400 G2 (hard drive was malfunctioning/unrecoverable due to a broken thread of machine code ... cannot be restored by normal means/software, nor while 'in-situ' ... that is in the parent machine), and the Cm14 notepad (not mentioned in this thread, but support knew about it), which had a failed HDD due to a liberal coating with cat-vomit (cat spat a hairball on the keyboard - although wiped-off, some of the regurgitated fluid (<1/8 fluid oz) got on the led to the HDD, crossed onto the top of the HDD circuit board - then caused 3 diodes to short-out. Not recoverable.

Both computers were fitted with new drives.

I started ten hours ago, reinstalling the core operating systems and programs. Just finished ...

As the local pastors often say on Sundays: "Here endith the sermon ..." (they mean "that's all folks - thread closed")

My thanks to Paul, the HP support crew, and you who found our conversation 'entertaining'. It was intended to be. Fixing problems is generally far easier smiling and laughing ... as opposed to cursing and getting cross.

Cheers all,

Rick Finney.
