Red light beeps 5 times  the third time it does this on the third blinking beep the sound of the beep stops but the red light keeps blinking oh yea and it's making loud noise to

1. Identify the Beep Code

  • On HP laptops, 5 beeps (red light) usually indicate a memory (RAM) issue.
  • The fact that the third beep loses sound but the light continues may suggest a partial POST failure (Power-On Self-Test).

 

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect only the charger (leave battery out) and try powering on.

This clears residual charge and resets the embedded controller.

 

3. Check for Fan or Drive Noise

  • If the loud noise is a whirring or grinding, it may be:
    • A stuck fan (thermal fault)
    • A failing hard drive (mechanical fault)
