OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-2000i (83N29AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My OMEN HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC goes 'black screen' stating 'BOOSTING IN PROGRESS' interrupting my game.

My fans increase at full speed and the screen goes black, after a few moments the system starts up again and the notification states Boost 'cleared this and it deleted that freeing up space', I don't understand it.

I start up a new game, a few minutes into the game this occurs, it only happens once and does not occur again until the next day when I go and start a new game again? It did not do this when I first got my Desktop.

I tried to troubleshoot, in the OMEN Gaming hub under Optimizer I 'turned off' BOOST my Games and I unticked everything in the Booster tab hoping this prevents the TASK or whatever is happening. Today the notification stated BOOST ENABLED 'Your RAM is already at optimal state'.  CPU Temp 31C, GPU Temp 28C and CPU Utilization is 2%. Thermal control is set on TURBO.

as I'm not very PC related, I am reaching out to the community or HP for assistance as I just want to play a game.

Thank you

Hi @DaggerKing

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your OMEN HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC is experiencing a "Boosting in Progress" issue, where the system unexpectedly goes into a black screen state and interrupts your gameplay. This can be frustrating, but it’s often related to the OMEN Command Center (Omen Gaming Hub) or performance optimization features. Here’s a breakdown of what might be happening and some steps to resolve the issue:

Possible Causes and Solutions

1. Optimize Omen Gaming Hub Settings

Even though you've already adjusted the settings in the Optimizer, it might not have been fully turned off. Let's double-check:

  • Open the OMEN Gaming Hub and go to the Optimizer tab.
  • Ensure that all optimization options (RAM, CPU, etc.) are turned off.
  • Disable the "Boost" feature completely, not just the individual settings for games.
  • Also, check if there is an automatic boosting option in the Hub settings. If it’s enabled, try disabling it.

2. Update Drivers and BIOS

Outdated drivers or BIOS can cause instability with gaming and performance management features:

  • Update your Graphics Drivers: Go to HP Support or NVIDIA/AMD (depending on your GPU) to ensure you have the latest drivers installed.
  • Update your Chipset and BIOS: Sometimes BIOS updates fix issues related to system resource management. Check for any HP BIOS updates on the HP support website.

3. Disable Windows Game Mode and Background Apps

Windows Game Mode and other background processes can sometimes interfere with performance optimizers:

  • Disable Game Mode in Windows:
    • Open Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and toggle it off.
  • Disable Background Apps:
    • Go to Settings > Privacy > Background apps and turn off apps that may be consuming resources.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
