@Abs37, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand your HP Victus laptop (Intel Core i5 12th Gen, running Windows 11) occasionally hangs and becomes unresponsive. Let's work together to resolve this.

Check for Windows and HP Updates

Outdated drivers or system files can cause performance issues.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

This helps identify hardware issues like memory or storage problems.

  • Restart your PC and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run System Tests > Extensive Test (takes 1–2 hours).
  • Alternatively, use the Windows version: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

Check for Background Apps and Startup Load

Too many apps running in the background can slow down your system.

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to Startup tab and disable unnecessary apps.
  • Check Processes tab for high CPU or memory usage.

Perform a Clean Boot

This helps identify if third-party software is causing the issue.

Scan for Malware

Malware can cause system instability.

  • Use Windows Security or a trusted antivirus to run a full system scan.

Check Storage Health

If your SSD is failing, it may cause hangs.

  • Open Command Prompt as admin and run:chkdsk C: /f /r
  • You can also use CrystalDiskInfo to check SSD health.

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

BIOS and chipset updates can resolve compatibility and stability issues.

  • Visit: Official HP® Support
  • Enter your exact model number (e.g., HP Victus 15-fa0xxx) and download the latest BIOS and Intel Chipset drivers.

Additional Tips

  • Ensure your laptop is on a cool, flat surface to prevent overheating.
  • If the issue persists, consider performing a System Restore or Reset this PC from Windows Settings.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
