My Pavillion gaming mouse 300 keeps turning off, i first thought it was a USB port problem so i tried using every single one, and it still turned off, i checked the drivers and they're fine, i turned off the "allow PC to turn off device for power economy" option for ever single USB port and nothing changed.

Hi @WinnieTheP00h,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
When your Pavilion Gaming Mouse 300 keeps turning off despite checking USB ports, drivers, and power settings, the issue could be related to several factors, such as the mouse hardware itself, software conflicts, or other underlying system issues. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue:
1. Check for Physical Issues
Inspect the Cable:
- Ensure the mouse cable is not damaged. Look for any signs of wear or fraying, especially near the USB connector and where the cable meets the mouse.
Try a Different Computer:
- Plug the mouse into a different computer to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the mouse or your current computer setup.
2. Update Firmware and Drivers
Update Mouse Firmware:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your Pavilion Gaming Mouse 300 on the HP support website.
Reinstall Mouse Drivers:
- Uninstall the current mouse drivers and then reinstall them. To do this:
- Open Device Manager.
- Locate your mouse under "Mice and other pointing devices."
- Right-click on it and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your computer and let Windows reinstall the default drivers.
3. Check for Software Conflicts
Disable Conflicting Software:
- Sometimes software like other mouse utilities or gaming software can conflict with your mouse. Disable or uninstall any such software temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure your operating system is up to date with the latest patches and updates from Microsoft.
4. Power Settings and Management
Disable USB Selective Suspend:
- This can be done in the Power Options:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Expand USB settings and then USB selective suspend setting.
- Set it to Disabled.
High-Performance Power Plan:
- Ensure that your computer is set to a high-performance power plan to avoid any power-saving features that might turn off the USB ports:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Select High performance.
Check the next steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @WinnieTheP00h,
Please find the next steps below.
5. Run Hardware Diagnostics
HP Support Assistant:
- Use the HP Support Assistant tool to run diagnostic tests on your hardware to identify any potential issues with your USB ports or other components.
Windows Hardware Troubleshooter:
- Use the built-in Windows troubleshooter to detect and fix hardware issues:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Additional troubleshooters.
- Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
6. Check for Overheating or Power Supply Issues
Ensure Proper Ventilation:
- Make sure your computer is properly ventilated and not overheating, as overheating can sometimes cause USB ports to malfunction.
Check Power Supply:
- If your power supply is insufficient or faulty, it might not be providing adequate power to all USB ports. Ensure your power supply is functioning correctly and providing enough power.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware problem with the mouse itself. In that case, contact HP Phone Support for further assistance or repair or replacement options.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
