Hi, I bought my HP Desktop computer a couple months ago. I booted it up this morning and it was working fine. Then I was away from it for a few hours. When I returned the screen was black. Usually it comes on when I move the mouse but for the first time it didn't. I checked all my cables and they were fine and I put new batteries into my mouse but still no luck. Finally I held down the power button to shut off the computer, waited a few minutes, turned the power back on and all was good.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with this ~ Under Settings, System, Power & Sleep, Screen the options are when plugged in turn screen off after 1 minute up to Never. I have this option set to turn the screen off after 30 min's and this is the first time I've had a problem with the screen going black. A friend suggested I set this screen -turn- off- option at Never. Could someone please offer me some feedback about this. Thanks ever so much.

A while ago there was an issue with screens not waking up when using the Intel HD graphics. Rolling back to an older version was one fix. You could try this version:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92501-93000/sp92672.exe
Alternatively, just set screen off time to never, and switch the machine off when you're not using it.
