I don't understand why my built-in windows 10 camera isn't working. I contacted windows 10 and they were unable to help me with my camera issue. I tried uninstalling my camera and reinstalling in Device Manager and it still isn't working. I've done every possible solution and nothing has worked. I might need driver updates for my camera.

Hi @Genesisss12,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with the built-in camera on your HP Pavilion 24-Xa All-In-One Desktop PC, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you with this issue.
-
Check the Camera Privacy Settings:
- In Windows 10, privacy settings may restrict camera access. Ensure that camera access is allowed for the applications that need it.
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera. Make sure that "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.
-
Update Camera Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupt camera drivers can cause problems. Visit HP's official website and look for the latest camera drivers for your specific model.
- Download and install the updated drivers, then restart your computer.
-
Check for Windows Updates:
- Sometimes, Windows updates can include fixes for hardware issues. Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
-
Check Device Manager:
- You mentioned you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the camera in Device Manager. Ensure that there are no exclamation marks or error symbols next to the camera device.
- If there are errors, right-click on the camera device, choose "Update driver," and follow the on-screen instructions.
-
Test the Camera in Other Applications:
- Try using the camera in different applications like the Camera app, Skype, or Zoom. This can help determine if the issue is specific to one application or if it's a system-wide problem.
-
Restart the Computer:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve hardware issues. Reboot your computer and check if the camera starts working.
-
Run the Windows Troubleshooter:
- Windows has built-in troubleshooters for various hardware and software issues. You can try running the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and select "Hardware and Devices."
-
Check for Physical Issues:
- Ensure that there are no physical obstructions or damage to the camera hardware, lens, or cables.
-
Create a New User Account:
- Sometimes, user-specific issues can cause camera problems. Create a new user account and check if the camera works in that account.
-
Restore or Reset Windows:
- If all else fails, you can consider restoring your Windows system to a previous point (if you have a system restore point) or performing a Windows 10 reset. Be sure to back up your important data before doing this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
