This is an additional response because I noticed your phrase "2018, and still trouble." I want to emphasise that I tried every remedy for this problem I could find on the internet and had given up on fixing it, but was urged by the people on this site to continue. Your remark, "2018, and still trouble" reminds me that my computer was 3 months out of warranty, which also discouraged me from proceeding. It was after I ran the diagnostic tests that revealed a very basic problem that HP found a way to help me. So do not give up if the warranty time is up. Run the diagnostic and report the results.

I have had the same issue. I am not an HP Employee but a Technician. If no changes were made hardware or software and a reinstall did not fix the issue than the problem is most likely due to failed hardware. In my case it was the battery.

You must not have seen the entire sequence of messages. My problem was both a defective motherboard and disk drive, diagnosed by a software link sent to me by HP. HP repaired the PC with a new drive and MB two years ago. It was excellent service and my PC has been perfect since then.
