HP VICTUS 1SL
Microsoft Windows 11

I was talking about bios updates with a friend, which lead me to search how to update bios and I saw that holding Windows + B does something so I decided to do it now my computer isn't showing a display.

When I boot the computer it beeps in intervals of 2 with about 2-3 second inbtween beeps.

I think I put the computer into bios recovery mode, but now I don't know what to do since It's now showing any display.

Is the problem fixable without part repair/swap.

I appreciate any help given.

@max436, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding BIOS Recovery Mode Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your computer has entered BIOS recovery mode, which is common if there was an issue during a BIOS update. Here's a step-by-step guide on what you can do to try and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Power Cycle the Computer

  • Turn off your computer completely.
  • Disconnect the power cable, remove any attached peripherals (keyboard, mouse, USB devices), and, if applicable, remove the battery.
  • Hold down the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power cable and attempt to power on the computer again.

Step 2: BIOS Recovery Using a Key Press Combination

  • Turn off the computer and insert the USB flash drive with the BIOS file into a USB port (usually the root directory of the USB drive should have the BIOS file).
  • Press and hold down the "Windows" key and the "B" key (or "V" key depending on the model), and then press the power button for about 2-3 seconds with those keys still pressed.
  • Release the power button but continue to hold the "Windows" and "B" keys until you hear BIOS beeps or it restarts.

Step 3: Allow BIOS Recovery to Complete

  • If the computer properly recognizes the BIOS file, it might automatically continue with the recovery. This process may take a few minutes and the computer may restart several times.
  • Do not interrupt the recovery process by turning off the computer until it’s clear the process has completely finished.

Step 4: Successful Recovery or Retry

  • If the process is successful, the computer will restart normally and boot up.
  • If the process appears to get stuck (e.g., continuous beeping, no display after several minutes), you may need to restart the process or attempt the recovery again with a different USB drive or BIOS file

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
