My computer will not turn on and just flashes an HP sign.

@Cy16 -- welcome to this peer-to-peer discussion forum, where volunteer contributors try to help.

 

I think that you are seeing the "splash" screen, with HP's logo, because your motherboard is made by HP.

 

What your motherboard should do is to read from the disk-drive, and load Windows.  But, that seems to NOT be what is happening.

 

Is your computer less than 12 months ago?  If so, contact HP Support, to open a claim against the HP Warranty.  HP will repair/replace your computer, at HP's expense.

 

Otherwise, what could have happened is:

* disk-drive is no longer connected to a "power" cable

* disk-drive is no longer connected by a "SATA" cable to the motherboard

* disk-drive has "failed", and does not respond to any input/output requests.

 

I recommend that you take your computer to an owner/operator computer store, and pay for professional trouble-shooting.
