HP Z1 Workstation Product B2B85UT
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I don't know of any changes that could cause this. It may have been this way for awhile until I noticed the problem. I don't use this computer a lot. I set the background to white so I could see the problem better. About ione third of the screen on the right side is darker than the left side. It makes it hard to see the mouse movement at times.

Is the HP Warranty for the All-In-One system still active?

Have you tried changing the settings for the mouse, for a larger pointer, or to add a "mouse-trail" ?

If the computer was still under warranty I would be contacting HP not thr forum. Making the mouse pointer bigger or adding a mouse trail would help see the mouse movement better but that would not solve the problem. I am searching for a way to actually fix the problem. It may be a video card but that is doubtful. The display is probably bad and I will be pursuing that possibility. With that said I still thak you mdklassen for taking the time to make a suggestion.

Your original posting did not mention the warranty status.

Can you borrow a monitor from family or friends, to see if the symptom goes away?

Or, try to buy a cheap, pre-owned, monitor at a "Thrift Store", to use that monitor.

Or, if the video-card has VGA or DVI or HDMI output, and your big-screen TV has compatible input, you could connect your computer to the TV, instead of to your monitor.

In my original post I did not mention the warranty because I thought it would be foolish to contact the forum for help if the computer was still under warranty. This may be beating a dead horse but I never expected anyone would ask for help on a problem if it was still covered by warranty, just contact the manufacturer.

I have a monitor I am going to try as soon as I locate it. It is in my storage bin and there are many boxes to go through.  In talking with a local computer repair facility I was told the most likely suspect is the display itself. I concur with that educated guess and will follow up when my monitor is located. The video card, aka the graphics card is a possibility but due to the way the monitor displays the dark area and being able to see behind the dark area suggests the card is probably functioning properly.

Other suggestions are welcome. Especially from someone with a like problem that was solved.

Surprisingly, some people who post here do not realize either that a warranty exists, or that their problem might be covered by the HP Warranty.

Got a friend with a laptop that has a "video-out" port that is compatible with one of the "video-in" ports on your monitor?

Connect it up, and see if the monitor displays the same symptoms when NOT connected to your video-card.
