Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Forums.

I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that the Windows operating system had crashed and you downloaded the Win10 operating system on the flash drive from your laptop. However, the Win10 installation does not happen successfully on your desktop PC. Not to worry, I'll be glad to assist you with this case.

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • What is the exact desktop PC model number. This link will help in finding the model number: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/bph07555. The modle number you provided is for a monitor and not the PC it self.
  • What is the original Windows operating system version  that came with the desktop PC?
  • Did any software changes or updates happen on the PC after which the Windows crashed?

While you respond to that. I would like to inform you the the USB recovery media created on another computer will not work with this desktop PC because ever copy of Windows is unique. The recovery media will only work on the computer on which it was created.

Secondly, if you have downloaded a Windows image from the Microsoft website then suggest you to look out for the original recovery media for this PC itself.

Hope this information helps. Keep me posted.

Cheers! 🙂

Have you tried tapping Esc? You should get a startup menu where F9 Boot options is a choice. Tap F9 then use the arrow keys to move to highlight/select USB. Tap Enter key.

Hi

The W10 you created from the Laptop has a specific script to install onto only that Laptop.

For a General, install across multiple makes, you want to use the Microsoft Creator Tool from here...

They can be be downloaded (sometimes you need a licence key other than the HP OEM key)
and 'burnt'/expanded to a DVD/USB. They WONT contain appropriate HP software, like drivers etc.
But may enable a repair to be started.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

and a HOW2 is here...
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/install-windows-10-from-usb

I suggest a DVD or 8 Gb USB.

The long version is this...

This First part only works when a valid Recovery Partition is enabled.
If it displays an error message then move onto the Second Part:-
OR if you have data you wish to try and save using the XCOPY command.
Then create your own Repair/Recovery/Rebuild/Re-install media or buy a set from HP.

Turn off the computer.
Disconnect all connected devices and cables, Media Drives, USB drives, printers, & faxes.
Remove media from internal drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware.
Do not disconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, or power cord.

Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key, about once every second,
until the Choose an option screen is displayed, and then continue.

On the Choose an Option screen, click Troubleshoot, and work your way through the screens.

Second Part:-
This may require another PC. Find and Download your .iso from…
(You will need a NON_OEM key for W7);
W8.x and W10 should activate automagically from their embedded licence key.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

For when it’s a NON MS OS ( iOS / Linux ) creating the install media.
www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

A 3rd party site is (Please be careful)...
https://mirror.corenoc.de/digitalrivercontent.net/

http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-7-home-premium-free-download-iso-32-bit-64-...

Expand/Extract/Burn the iso Image onto a DVD/USB as needed.
Microsoft’s Creator Tool will make the required DVD or USB.

Even though it has NO actual HP software/drivers included, you may be able to
XCOPY the C:\Users\* area onto a ‘large’ USB stick, via the Command Prompt.

You’ll need to try various drive letters; D:..-..Z: until it’s matched - could be G; mine’s S:

C:\>XCOPY C:\Users\* S:\ /e /i /h (then files like those 3 listed below get copied over)

C:\Users\desktop.ini
C:\Users\All Users\agent.1509128044.bdinstall.bin
C:\Users\All Users\HP Deskjet 2540 series\Help\flash\zoom.swf

Then you can try System Recovery Options / Advanced Options shown in the screenshots.

NB:- W7 Try running a Startup Repair more than once for a full fix.
NB: - W10 Begin with the Automatic Repair, then Startup Settings etc.

From either the C:\ or the X:\ prompt try the following

cd boot
bootrec /FixMBR
bootrec /FixBoot
bootrec /RebuildBCD

If the above FAILS then please try:-

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/install-windows-7-from-usb
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/install-windows-10-from-usb

You may need to change the Secure/Legacy boot option, and the boot sequence also.

Glad to have you back.

Do not worry, I'm doing my best to get this issue fixed.

You had mentioned that the F11 key does not take you to the recovery partition.

As mentioned in my previous post, I will need the exact compute model number. The model number you provided (HP S1931a) is of a monitor and not a computer.

You may run a hardware test on the computer but following the below steps:

  • Power off the PC.
  • Turn on the PC and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

  • On the main menu, click Component Tests.

Figure : Selecting Component Tests from the main menu

Selecting Component Tests from the main menu

  • The Component Tests menu displays. Your Component Tests menu might be different, depending on the components installed on your computer.

Figure : Sample list of Component Tests

Sample List of the Component tests

  • Please locate the Hard Drive/Storage Tests and initiate the tests.

If the hardware test on the hard drive passes then please lookout for my private message suggesting the next course of action.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted.

Good luck! 🙂

Please do not "paste" an E-mail message (sent from this forum to your E-mail ID) into this question, with your response:

the computer screeen does not go anywhere... not even respond in ESC...

Product # is:    BQ464AA#ABA

the monitor number is HP S1931

Instead, please use the "Reply" button within this forum, and type your response.

Try this:

Power-off your computer.

Power-on your computer, and immediately start tapping the ESC key, 2 or 3 times per second, until you see a menu.

Do you see that menu?

Thanks.

So you have a

HP Pavilion Slimline s5503w Desktop PC

that originally came with either Vista , or more likely Windows 7.

Can you tell us the original Operating System.

What Operating System was in use when it crashed?

"please fix itttt.... please i am begging you!!!"

We can't fix it, only the person who has direct contact with it can.  You or a local Repair shop.

What , and are trying to do is get a sensible structured state of the machine in question.

Also "but nothing is happening to my computer" is an accurate assessment, then you may have a dead computer and need to buy a replacement.
