I'm truly sorry for your loss. I hope I can assist you in accessing your mother's computer with care, so that her data is preserved.
Here are some steps you can try:
1. Ask for Password Hints
- If your mother's computer prompts for a password, look for a "Hint" feature on the login screen. Sometimes, a helpful clue is stored there.
2. Use a Microsoft Account
- If she used a Microsoft account to sign in to the computer:
- Visit the Microsoft Password Reset page to reset the account's password.
- Once reset, use the new password to log in.
3. Use the Built-in Administrator Account
- Restart the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly to open Advanced Boot Options (on some HP computers).
- Choose "Safe Mode."
- If you can access the hidden administrator account, you can reset or create a new account password.
