Hi @Jhumble45

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm truly sorry for your loss. I hope I can assist you in accessing your mother's computer with care, so that her data is preserved.

Here are some steps you can try:

1. Ask for Password Hints

  • If your mother's computer prompts for a password, look for a "Hint" feature on the login screen. Sometimes, a helpful clue is stored there.

2. Use a Microsoft Account

  • If she used a Microsoft account to sign in to the computer:

3. Use the Built-in Administrator Account

  • Restart the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly to open Advanced Boot Options (on some HP computers).
  • Choose "Safe Mode."
  • If you can access the hidden administrator account, you can reset or create a new account password.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
