I have a HP Pro 6300 MicroTower PC (B5N17UT). It is circa 2012. I want to do a BIOS update. The current version of BIOS is 2.05 from 05/07/2012. The BIOS that I can download is 3.08 from 04/10/2019.

The BIOS won't update. I suspect that I need an intermediary BIOS version in order to complete the upgrade.

Where can I find one to download? I can't find an appropriate search site.

Thank you.

Don

Hi, @NothingatAll940

The BIOS updates can be found under the W8.1 driver section of the support page.

If your PC is running a BIOS version older than 2.99, you have to update the BIOS to 2.99 before updating it to the last BIOS update released which was 3.08.

See this discussion for how to safely update the BIOS outside of Windows.

The SFF uses the same BIOS files as the MT.

If you run the file and an info page does not open, browse to the folder that was created when you ran the file which would be in C:\SWSetup\sp73099 for version 2.99 for example.

The info page is the html file, or you can just copy the file contents of the DOS flash folder to your USB flash drive from there.

@NothingatAll940,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Go to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-compaq-pro-6300-microtower-pc/5232874, select Windows 7 (64-bit), click on "BIOS (4)", where you'll see BIOS versions 3.08,  2.90, and 2.57, then click on the "+" sign left of the "HP Compaq Business Desktop System BIOS (K01 BIOS) for Windows 3.08 Rev.A", where you'll see locate and click on the "+" sign left of "Previous version", and voilà: you'll find versions 3.07 down to  2.98.

Kind Regards,

Thank you, I would never have found the 2.99 update without your help.
