I have a pair of older HP Pavillion E9280T desktop systems. I recently installed new HDDs on both (both are identical machines, ordered as a pair from HP). I also have a two sets of recovery disks which I made when the systems were new, saved on DVDs.
On one system, I was able to successfully perform a full recovery (back to factory settings). On the other system, the recovery stops on the 3rd disk at 68% and gives me the following error message: "Recovery Manager could not restore your computer using the factory image. Please contact HP support. Error code 0xe0ef000e"
I searched the forums and discovered that many others have experienced this same issue. I tried some of the suggested fixes, such as wiping clean and re-partitioning the hard drive. None of them worked.
For kicks, I also tried recovering the system using the recovery disks from the other machine. I discovered that I was able to do a full system recovery using these disks. This tells me I probably have a corrupted set of recovery disks, and not a hardware problem.
Unfortately, while it was fun to discover where the source of the issue, I can't obviously use the same set of recovery disks for both machines (I am sure Windows will fart once I hook up to the internet and connect to MS's servers).
So my question is....what should I do? I don't think HP sells the recovery disks any longer. But I have a copy of Win7 Pro that I paid for, trapped on the recovery disks that are not working.
In advance, thanks for any suggestions or tips.

OK....im going to answer my own question....i should have realized this sooner, before posting my original question.
I had a set of recovery disks for an identical HP machine....at first i didn't think i could use them...i did not realize that the unique MS Product Key is not copied or assigned to the recovery disks.... and since both systems where the same in every respect.... it worked!
