Your system came with Windows 8 or 8.1

It is possible to obtain HP "original" disks from 3rd party that does stuff like that

I recommend you install windows 10 64bit and activate it using your original windows 8 serial number

 

get the software here.  burn to double layer dvd or use minimum 8gb flash.

Obtain cheap WD500 Blue ($60 USD Walmart SSD) or equivalent

after getting win10 up and running attach the original HDD and see if you can obtain your important documents.
