Hello. I am trying to restore my computer to factory settings. I do not have any restore cds. When I try to boot the computer, I get a message that says BOOTMGR is missing. Press crtl+alt+delete to restart. I am stuck. I need this computer to run a specific program that only runs on windows 7. I really need the restore cd. What can I do? The serial number for my computer is mxu9460019. The model is 300-1020. the product number is ny536aa#aba

Hi:
HP no longer sells recovery media for your PC.
You have a couple of options...
1. Order a recovery kit from this vendor...
2. Make a plain W7 Home Premium installation USB flash drive or DVD using another Windows PC.
Download the W7 x64 Home Premium ISO file from the link below, toward the bottom of the page.
Then use the tool that I zipped up and attached below to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive or DVD, so that it is bootable.
With the second option, you can try to repair the current installation.
When you get to the Install Now screen, on the lower left side of that window, will be a Repair your PC selection.
You can use some of the tools to try and repair the boot structure. Here is a video that suggests a way to fix the issue.

If that doesn't work, you can install W7 as long as you can find and read the W7 product key on your PC's case.
The key could be in the back, side or even on the lower underside edge of the display.
After W7 installs you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
Since the Windows product key is OEM, and the ISO file from the link above is retail, you may need to use the Microsoft automated phone activation system to activate the installation.
