Pavillion Elite e9160F
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I recently had a new 2 tb hard drive installed in my Pavillion Elite e9160f. Now, i have looked at the disk management and concluded it is only actually using approx. 1 TB. I think it is because they simply cloned the old 1 tb drive and didn't bother to do whatever needed to be done to make the whole drive usuable. Then, I was wondering if the machine is even capable of having more than a 1 tb. drive?? Thanks for any help.

Hi:

Looking at the specs for your model it should be able to support a 2 TB drive.

See if you can use the disk management tool in Windows to incorporate the extra space.

Thanks! Not sure I know how to do that. I think I will end up taking it back to Staples and tell them they must have screwed up when they put it in and have them redo it!

You're very welcome.

Yes, they should be able to reclaim the lost space.
