I know this may seem a very rookie issue, but I need help, so here it goes. I cannot seem to get the new windows 10 update to take as it says it either has not enough memory or it cannot update and my hardware is in danger as it is not updated. It asked for an additional 12.9 GB of memory to finish the update, so I attached my virtually (lol) empty 64GB jump drive to allow the download to finish, but it still did not work.
Help me HP Community, you're my only hope!

Let's first get some terms straight so we're both talking about the same issue.
You're not short of "memory"; instead, you're short of "disk space". And that is because your model PC comes with 32GB of disk space and that can not be expanded.
You're basically stuck with what you have.
However, here are some things you can do to recover some of the disk space:

Also, the community Win10 Forums has the following suggestions:

In addition, I have found the utility Cleanmgr+ to have LOTS of options for removing Windows junk, including log files. I use it practically every day. You can get it from here: https://www.getclone.app/download/category/11-cleanmgr
Also, there is a freeware app known as Wise Disk Cleaner. I use it every day to get rid of junk files: https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-disk-cleaner.html
See if that helps.
Good Luck
