Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
Verify the old PC has a 3.5 HDD.
You can buy a 3.5 inch HDD to USB 3 adapter at Amazon or NewEgg. Make sure you buy an adapter that supports 3.5 inch HDDs if the old HDD is a 3.5 inch HDD. Some adapters only support 2.5 HDDs or SSDs.
You remove the HDD from the old PC.
Connect the HDD to the USB adapter.
Connect the USB adapter to a USB 3.0 port on the new PC for faster data transfer rates.
Look in the "Users" Folder on the root drive (C:) of the old HDD. Then look in the User folder you created to login to your old PC for your user data.
Now check:
Downloads
Documents
Music
Pictures
Videos
Or anywhere else you may have saved data.
Copy the data to the new PC.
Here's a tip:
Start routine data backups to, at least, one external drive. No data backups and HDD failure means you have lost your data forever.
Verified: OS disk backups and bootable recovery media are also recommended.
