Bluetooth on/off toggle switch disappeared. It returned with the 24H2 update to Windows 11 Pro but disappeared again. Have reinstalled drivers, ect.

but unable to get the toggle switch back. Task bar icon for Bluetooth says not connected. Bluetooth troubleshooter not helpful. Purchased an ASUS dongle which has not helped. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Hi @Frontriver,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It’s really inconvenient to be without Bluetooth when you rely on it, especially after trying so many solutions. Let’s try a few more approaches to get the toggle switch back.

  • When you reinstalled the drivers, did you uninstall them fully before reinstalling, or did you use an update method?
  • Did you notice any changes in the Device Manager, such as Bluetooth appearing under a different category or showing errors?
  • Has the Bluetooth functionality been stable with previous updates, or has this been a recurring issue?

Let's try these steps.

1. Check Hidden Devices in Device Manager

  • Open Device Manager, click on View > Show hidden devices, and check if Bluetooth appears. If it does, right-click and select Uninstall device (choose to delete the driver if prompted). Then restart your PC and let Windows reinstall the default driver.

2. Enable Bluetooth Support Service

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. In the Services list, find Bluetooth Support Service and make sure it is set to Automatic and running. If it’s not running, right-click and select Start.

3. Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

  • Sometimes, Bluetooth issues can be resolved by updating the BIOS and chipset drivers. Go to HP’s support site, download the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your model, and install them.

4. Use Windows 11 Bluetooth Troubleshooter Again

  • After any updates or driver reinstallations, run the Bluetooth troubleshooter by going to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and selecting Bluetooth. Even if it previously didn’t help, a driver or BIOS update may improve its effectiveness.

5. Try Another USB Port for the Dongle

  • Disconnect the ASUS dongle, restart the PC, and plug it into a different USB port. Sometimes, Windows prioritizes the internal Bluetooth over external dongles, so this reset may allow it to recognize and use the dongle fully.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
