Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

my desktop  is out of warranty. I husband called an talked to an agent a couple of times. Somehow windows is wiped out. Don't know why the agent did not ask him to make a recovery disk. My husband is not very tech savvy. Now when the system is turn on it says no operating systems. I tried the HP download page and it said no driver available for your system. How can i  order or download the recovery software so I can do a factory install.  Thank you.

Hi:

You can make your own W8.1 installation media using another Windows PC and a USB flash drive.

Download the W8.1 64 bit ISO file from the link below.   Your PC came with a 64 bit operating system.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

Use the Microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below that you will need to transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive, so that it is bootable.

After W8.1 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

Or you can order W8.1 recovery media for your PC from this vendor at the link below.

I have downloaded the iso file on my laptop and in the download folder.

I unzipped the attached file on my laptop and it is in a folder in my download folder on my laptop.

When I click on the windows7-usb-dvd-download-tool-installer-en-us exe file it wants to install windows on my laptop.  But I don't want to install windows in my laptop.  I want to install windows on my not working computer

What should I do next?

Thank you.

Hi:

All that tool does is transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive or DVD.

It does not install Windows.   I've used it many times.

You can use a different utility to create a bootable USB flash drive called Rufus.
