@HSargent, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check Device Manager for Camera Issue
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Look for Imaging Devices and see if your camera is listed there (usually under names like “HP Camera,” “Integrated Camera,” or similar).
- If it’s listed but has a yellow triangle icon, right-click it and select Update Driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If it’s not listed, right-click on the top section of the Device Manager window (e.g., your PC's name), and choose Scan for hardware changes. This will try to detect the camera.
Enable Camera in Settings
Sometimes the camera might be disabled in the system settings.
- Go to Settings (Press Windows + I).
- Navigate to Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Make sure the Camera Access is turned On.
- Scroll down and check that apps you want to use with the camera (e.g., Zoom, Teams) have permission to use it.
Check for Windows Updates
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Check for any pending updates that may fix bugs related to camera and sound.
- Install any available updates and restart your PC.

Update Your Graphics and Camera Drivers
HP often releases specific drivers for their hardware. Here’s how you can check:
- Visit the HP Support website: https://support.hp.com.
- Enter your PC's model number and look for the driver downloads section.
- Download the latest camera drivers (and audio drivers, if you need those) for Windows 11.
- Install the drivers and restart your PC.
Troubleshoot the Camera Using the Built-in Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot.
- Click Other troubleshooters.
- Find and run the Camera troubleshooter.
- Follow the prompts to check for problems.
Reinstall the Camera Driver
If the camera isn’t functioning correctly:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your camera under Imaging Devices and choose Uninstall Device.
- Restart your PC, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Use System Restore (If the Issue Started After the Update)
- Search for "Create a restore point" in the Start Menu.
- Select System Restore and choose a restore point from before the Windows 11 update.
- This will roll your system back and may resolve the camera and sound issues if they were caused by the recent update.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
