Hi the bottom of my pc that has start, search etc has disappeared. If i hover the mouseover the black section the arrow changes to the loading icon . I've tried to use the keyboard to bring up the system and nothing happens. I've also tried to restore but the only date option was a couple of days ago that was an update for HP one agent. I've restarted heaps of times too. Hoping someone can help please.

There is a possible solution over at microsoft
do the powershell procedure, make sure you select administrator.
If that does not work then create a new user name. Give the user admin rights, reboot and log in using the new account
lemme know what happens

@Stevebjj wrote:Hi it didn't work, tried a few other things which also didn't work. The taskbar and search will show in safe mode if that helps work out what the issue could be?
There are two other things you can try. Before doing the second one make sure you have a second account that is local so you can log in should something go wrong. I assume you already did this as it was one of the item I recommended earlier.
One is to re-start the "Start menu process" in windows 11
I had to do this twice on a system I upgraded to 11 from 10. The symptom was similar to what you describe.
Try this and see if it works: Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to run the task manager,. select "run new tasks", make the ask administrator and enter the following
C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\StartMenuExperienceHost.exe |
If that does not work then possibly there is an app that cannot start and it is keeping the task bar from being displayed.
In the same task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) bring up the "Startup Apps" and start disabling items. There may be quite a few. I think they can all be disabled according to this article. You might compare the ones in startup when in safe mode to the ones listed when the task bar is not working and just disable those not used.
What is your product ID including the 3 letters after the # character? Go here and see if you have cloud recovery.
You should also check the windows event viewer and look for unusual errors such as timeouts or disk retry errors.

Thanks the new task didn't work, it looked like it was thinking about it. It's like the taskbar is there but not visible or usable. The keyboard shortcuts don't work either ie to bring up the search etc. In task manager the process is using almost 100% of the CPU and jamming, if that means anything. I can't see any difference to the start up programs in safe mode. No cloud back up either.
The PC had a recent update and HP one agent around the time this happened. Thanks

Before doing the following you may want to ask about the problem over at answers.microsoft.
Since our memory and disk passed diagnostics you can try a "repair install" with the option to keep files
Basically you download the latest window 10 (or 11), create a USB boot drive, boot up the USB version of Windows, do the install, but select the option that preserves all your data. You will need to know if using Windows Home, Pro or some other version.
Using another system go here and download the windows installation media. Specify the 16gb flash and be sure to check the 'Create installation media (USB)' and uncheck the 'Use the recommended options for this PC'
Insert the USB in to the system you need to repair and turn it on. Press ESC or DEL or F12 so that you can get into the bios and change the boot device. For example, the one with the dark bar highlight.
After the USB boots up select the language and agree to the fine print, if any.
Once you agree the option to either install or repair will be shown. Since the repair did not work then chose install.
You must then pick the OS that was licensed. If there is no option for the correct OS you forgot to uncheck the 'Use the recommended options' earlier.
The next screen will ask if you want to upgrade and preserve files or do a clean install and lose all your stuff.
