Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Please provide your PC's product number only.

Are you using Norton/Symantic anti-malware software?

This may be some new malware variant if you are not using Symantic.

You may have to reinstall the operating system if you are infected. I would not backup data if you are infected. This means you will lose data if you have not backed up data prior to this possible infection.

You are not providing enough information to help forum members figure out what is happening.

Hi Mspinki17,

Don't contact the perpetrators.

You are, most likely not infected. You would get infected if you contact the bad guys and let them take over your PC. They will also want money and credit card numbers.

When do you see the prompt?

It may be a internet browser problem. What browser are you using? Try a different browser.

More importantly, your current anti-malware solution may be deficient if you are getting unsolicited pop up messages when you are online. What security software are you using?

Seeing these messages when you are not online is not good.

You may have to reinstall the operating system.

Hi Mspinki17,

You're very welcome.

Do you see the pop ups when you browse certain sites or do the pop ups happen randomly? Does Edge lock up forcing you to shut down the browser by using Task Manager?

McAfee is good.

I don't use McAfee so I am not familiar with the interface. I also don't use Edge.

You might want to check McAfee settings to verify you have enabled all network security settings correctly.

Maybe try Chrome or Firefox to browse the web.

I used to get those pop ups on a limited basis (maybe once every four months or so). I have not seen one in over a year.

Regards

Hi,

When the PC locks up you can press "CTRL, ALT, DEL" at the same time.

Then select Task Manager. Locate Edge in the Processes tab.

Right click on Edge, select "Kill Process".

This will shut down Microsoft Edge.

Regards
