I looked at the revision history of your system's BIOS and there are no improvement since F.15 June 2020. All updates since then are security related.
Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on to run diagnostics.
Do not allow any updates if disk or memory fail, especially a BIOS update.
Test the USB ports. If they fail during diagnostics then you have a hardware problem.
If they work then a windows problem.
It is always dangerous to upgrade bios. Unless there is a real need and the HP support assistant requests the upgrade, I would not do it. Look at the BIOS revision history and see if an upgrade is useful. Updates that improve security are needed in a corporate environment but for gaming system they will likely slow down your system.
I personally would not upgrade any gaming BIOS that was only security related unless the PC was used in a corporate, industrial or military organization.
Check your warranty and decided if you want to risk a BIOS upgrade like these unfortunate users did
Unless I am, mistaken, your Product ID is 6YR46AA#ABA and you have cloud recovery should you want to factory reset your system. I do not advise that unless you have backups of important files.
