Hi, I'm having a problem with the video game Valorant. I haven't been able to play it for a long time due to a BIOS issue. I've already updated the BIOS to the latest version, but I still can't play. It tells me I need to update the BIOS to a newer version to play, but no newer version appears on HP's website, so I don't know what to do.

@slasl, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It looks like you're encountering a compatibility issue with Valorant due to its anti-cheat system, Vanguard, which requires specific BIOS settings, particularly regarding Secure Boot and TPM (Trusted Platform Module). Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:

Step-by-Step Fix

Step 1: Enable Secure Boot

  1. Restart your PC and enter the BIOS by pressing F10 repeatedly when the HP logo appears.
  2. In the BIOS menu:
    • Navigate to the Security or Boot tab.
    • Ensure Secure Boot is enabled.
    • If it’s disabled and greyed out, try disabling Legacy Boot first.
  3. Save changes and exit (usually by pressing F10).

Step 2: Enable TPM (Trusted Platform Module)

  1. Go back into the BIOS settings.
  2. Look for a setting called TPM, TPM Device, or fTPM under the Security or Advanced tab.
  3. Enable it if it’s not already enabled.
  4. Save and exit.

📌 Note: Valorant requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot to be enabled on Windows 10/11 for Vanguard to function properly.

Step 3: Double-check Your BIOS Version

  1. Ensure you have the latest BIOS for your HP Obelisk 875-0014:
    • Visit the HP Software & Driver page for your model.
    • Check for the latest BIOS update listed there. As of the last known update, BIOS version F.24 Rev.A was one of the latest.
  2. If you already have that version installed, HP may not release a newer version, and the issue could be Vanguard failing to detect Secure Boot or TPM properly.

Step 4: Reinstall Valorant & Vanguard

  1. Sometimes Vanguard doesn’t update properly after BIOS changes.
  2. Uninstall Valorant and Riot Vanguard from the Control Panel.
  3. Reboot your PC.
  4. Reinstall Valorant from Riot’s official site: Play Valorant.

Step 5: Verify Windows Secure Boot State

After enabling Secure Boot and TPM, check if Windows recognizes them:

  1. Press Win + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
  2. Check the following:
    • Secure Boot State: Should say On.
    • BIOS Mode: Should be UEFI.
  3. To verify TPM:
    • Run tpm.msc and check that TPM is enabled and version is 2.0.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
