Hi @AL4645,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To open the CD/DVD drive door on an HP Slim Desktop computer, you can try the following methods.
Using the Eject Button:
- Locate the Eject Button: Find the eject button on the front of the CD/DVD drive. It is usually a small button located near the drive tray.
- Press the Eject Button: Press the button firmly to open the CD/DVD drive door.
Using the Keyboard:
- Open File Explorer: Press Win + E to open File Explorer.
- Locate the CD/DVD Drive: In the left pane, find and right-click on the CD/DVD drive icon.
- Select Eject: From the context menu, select the "Eject" option. This should open the drive door.
Using Software:
- Open This PC: Open File Explorer and go to "This PC" or "My Computer."
- Right-Click on the Drive: Find your CD/DVD drive, right-click on it, and select "Eject."
Manual Eject:
If the above methods do not work, you can manually open the drive:
- Turn Off the Computer: Ensure the computer is turned off.
- Locate the Manual Eject Hole: Find the small manual eject hole on the front of the CD/DVD drive. It is usually a tiny pinhole.
- Insert a Paperclip: Straighten a paperclip and gently insert it into the hole until you feel resistance. Push gently until the drive door pops open.
If these methods do not work, there might be a hardware issue with the CD/DVD drive.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
