Having difficulty locating and activating Windows Media Player. HP Desktop indicates DVD-RW drive is functioning; CD is in tray ( I hear motor engagement), but the DVD drive isn't seen on the folder drop down list.  Win 11 shows Media Player installed. I selected to pin Media player to taskbar, but it doesn't appear. How do I make Media Player functional?

Hi

Windows Media Player Legacy (WMPL) is located in Control Panel, Windows Tools.

Right click on the WMPL shortcut in Windows Tools. Select open file location. Right click on the second (WMPL) shortcut at the file location. You can pin WMPL to the start menu or the taskbar by selecting "more options".

Or right click on the second WMPL shortcut. Select open file location. This opens the WMPL executable. You can pin the executable to the start menu or the taskbar.

Don't know what is happening with the DVD drive. Try a data DVD to see if you can access the drive in Explorer to view/open files or execute programs.
