Microsoft Windows 11

Following a regular Windows update on October 9, my computer boots into a Bitlocker recovery screen. When I enter the bitlocker recovery key and try to repair and/or reset windows, it goes through a lengthy process however fails to start windows.  I have tried a few commnd line prompts but I am over my head.  I do not want to lose all my fioles if possible.  Microsoft support is NO HELP and simply directs me to contact my hardware provider (even though this this not a hardware issue).  This is a known issue and MS claims is resolved the issue on Ocotber 9, however that was the update that appears to have caused this problem.  Any insight would be so appreciated, TIA.

Greetings @NewMexicoChica

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I'm guessing there might have been a HP BIOS update for your PC included in the 10-09-2024 Windows update.

Sorry to say it does not look good if you cannot access the system drive using the correct BitLocker Recovery key.

I would suggest using WinRE (unless a BIOS update has occurred) to try a system restore. But you are locked out of the disk anyway, so this will not work.

I hope you routinely back up data to an external drive or a network drive.

This is why I only use BitLocker if it is absolutely necessary.

You may have to reinstall Windows using the HP Cloud Recovery option or do a clean W11 installation.
